Established in 1898 by uncle and nephew duo Robert Drake & Jack Macefield, Drake and Macefield are Cravens longest serving butchers. The story of the now award-winning butchers began in the famous town of Skipton located in Yorkshire where the first of the now three butchers’ shops was opened.
Fast forward to 1985 and Mr Ian Thompson took the reigns of the Skipton store, closely followed by Mr Richard Teal. The pair partnered up in the early 1990s to continue developing the brand. A second shop was opened in the year 2000 in the lovely town of Settle. In 2002 the news was spreading and the D&M pie range became popular, meaning later that year the pair opened a unit for Processing pies not far down the road from the original shop in Skipton.
The butchers have gone on to win countless awards and recognition! In 2016 Ian Thompson retired from the business, and Richard Teal was joined by his two sons Andrew & Steven. The trio have been working together ever since. They opened a third shop in Cross Hills in 2018.
