It’s not surprising that lamb from Drake & Macefield is a little bit special. Craven is famed for its sheep farming and of course our first shop was founded in Skipton, where even the name of the town is derived from the old English word scēap (meaning sheep) and tūn (farmstead or estate).

Our lamb is specially selected for us by the Spensley family who farm in Thorlby, just outside Skipton. They breed Texel X which are raised on local fields and moorland. Texel are a hardy and tough breed suited to our climate and the meat is notable for having less carcass seam fat.

We offer a range of cuts for your favourite lamb recipes, from joints for the Sunday roast with mint sauce on the side to chump chops for mid-week grills, minced lamb for home-made BBQ kebabs and diced lamb and lambs liver for rich casseroles.

Nutritionally, lamb is a source of high-quality protein and important vitamins and minerals including B12, B6, zinc, niacin and selenium. Grass-fed lamb like ours is also rich in healthy omega-3 fatty acids which support healthy muscles and boost the immune system.
